Belgium produces 220 000 tonnes of chocolate very year, and most of it is handmade and of the very highest quality.
There are more than 2000 chocolate shops in Belgium and even though the chocolate is the main attraction, the shops themselves are a feast for the eyes.
They are lavishly decorated and beautifully presented. What better job could there be than to work here?
It’s impossible to come away without tasting a few samples.
The most difficult decision is what not to purchase, and when the choices are finally made the chocolates are presented in gorgeously beribboned boxes and bags.
They look almost too good to open…almost!
Wow – now that’s some fine looking chocolate. When a person is visiting do you know if they can bring any back or do you need to ship it? Thinking ahead. 🙂

We brought some back to Australia with no problems. It’s okay if the food has been processed, but we always declare it anyway. We managed to eat lots and carry lots as well.

Oh no! Now I feel like eating chocolate and I’m out 😦 I’ll just drool over these pics for a while (all day) 😉

Did you buy some to ease your temptation?

I didn’t 😦 I’m heading to the shops this morning – that’s the only thing wrong with living on a farm, I can’t just duck down to the shops whenever that chocolate craving hits me (that’s my excuse for buying it in bulk) 😉

Or you could just go without…no, that is definitely not an option.

Yes, they were free. All the shops had tasting plates with tiny morsels on them…all so delicious. It was as nice to just look at the shops as it was to eat the chocolates. Well, not really, the chocolates were amazing.

I’m sure they were. The problem would probably be to stop tasting before you got too full!

Yum! I think I would have a hard time working at a chocolate shop; I’d probably become obese! What a mouth-watering way to start my morning. 🙂
