The Tokyo Imperial Palace is the main residence of the Emperor of Japan. Although the buildings aren’t open to the public, visitors can view them from Kokyo Gaien, a large plaza at the front of the palace. A large moat with massive stone walls is crossed by several bridges including Meganebashi – Eyeglass Bridge.
There’s plenty of symmetry to be seen in the ornamental fences, lamp posts and entrance gates.
Even the guard on gate duty is symmetrical!
I must admit I like the reflection of the bridge that makes it very symmetrical.

Isn’t it! The perfect reflection made it even more special. The day was very humid and still.

What an apt and observant description of the guard on duty – symmetrical details! Goes to show the Japanese eye on perfection and detailing.

That guard wasn’t going anywhere either. He stood like that the whole time we were there.

What a perfect place, and your pictures, as usual, are gorgeous. I love the first one, of course, but the guard was too perfect! 🙂

Beautiful … when I arrive the cherry trees will be blooming – can wait, at least I hope they haven’t dropped their flowers by 8th. Stay just next to the palace with view over the park – that image of the bridge … magical.

Oh, lucky you. Make sure you go for a walk in Ueno Park. There is an avenue of cherry trees leading to the museums and it will be beautiful when they are all in flower.

Thank you … had a look at it – looking fantastic – now in the note book too. I don’t understand how we will manage to get everything in ours 4,5 days.
