The jetty at Amity Point, on the north western tip of North Stradbroke Island, is a major focal point for the small township. It’s the best place to spot dolphins and often a fisherman or two will try their luck where the water is deeper.
It’s also the perfect launching pad for those game enough jump headlong into the pristine waters of Moreton Bay. The young and not-so-young compete to make the biggest splash as they hit the water.
It’s enough to chase the sharks away!
Oh, good choice for the theme! I could have used this too – well not THIS obviously – but one of a boy leaping off a bridge in Raglan NZ. Never even entered my mind 😀

You still could use it! I would love to see it.

Great interpretation and ‘young at heart’ is all that matters. 🙂

I think you’d need more than three but a huge run-up before the jump would be more fun anyway. Great choice!

There wasn’t room for a huge run-up because the pier was fenced up to the end. At one stage they were standing on top of the pylons and jumping from there!

Oh, well that’s a tad disappointing. It looked so inviting to race down that pier and jump in!

You would lose your momentum turning the corner at the end and going down the steps. It’s a good thought though.

The first photo is wonderful. The second one is just madness! 🙂

They were all having a ball Elaine. Every time we went to Amity Point there was always a group of people jumping, mostly young boys and girls having a fantastic time.

Actually, if I were several (ok, many) years younger than I am now, it’s the sort of thing I might have done – but only into warm water. 🙂

You would probably think this water was warm. It was 26 degrees.

Oh yes, that does sound quite warm. 🙂

Hi Carol, I have nominated you to take part in the ‘Five Photos, Five Stories’ challenge. It is quite simple and details can be found on my post today:http://wp.me/pL5Ms-2yK
There is absolutely no obligation to join in, but I love your stories and thought you might have some ideas to share with us 🙂

Normally I would jump at the chance to join in, but I’m halfway through a five week online writing course and I’m flat out posting once a week, let along five days in a row. Give me three weeks and I’ll see how I’m going. Thanks for thinking of me though. That’s a lovely compliment.

Well there is no time restraint so maybe give it a go in a months time if you feel like it – no worries 😉
