When spring comes to Western Australia the wildflowers bloom in abundance. At first glance the blossoms look simple but closer inspection reveals the fine details. These wildflowers were all found in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area.

Thank you. Some were taken by me and some by Mr ET. I think I have finally worked out how to use the macro on my camera.

Names please! 🙂

The only one I know is the yellow one, which is an everlasting daisy, also known as a paper daisy. I loved the purple ones in the second photo, and we saw them in lots of places including a botanic garden. I’m sure they were the only flowers in the garden without a name on them which was a little frustrating.

Doesn’t come more ornate than Nature! Isn’t she beautiful? 🙂 🙂

And so clever. I could have taken wildflower photos all day every day.

Thank you. Some of these are mine and some are Mr ET’s photos. I will pass on your compliment to him. I try to use my photos as much as possible but he often has the perfect shot.

My husband used to have that annoying knack too 🙂 🙂 These days he seldom takes photos.

I can’t see Mr ET stopping any time soon as he has a new camera. I have found that my photography skills have improved since I started blogging and needed to give some thought to what I wanted to capture.

Lovely photos. I think the second one is commonly called, “Mulla Mulla” in Australia.

Thank you. We saw it everywhere, from the Kimberleys to the Nullarbor Plain and no one could tell me its name.

I managed to buy one last year, after seeing them in the same areas you did but it hasn’t survived the winter. 😦

I never thought of trying to buy one. Did you get it at a nursery? Is it frosty in your area? We don’t get much frost but the winter winds can be cold.

Believe it or not we bought it at Banner/Mitre 10. We rarely get frost but obviously it didn’t like the winter weather, the whole plant died off. The seeds are advertised on eBay but I guess you’d be taking a chance on them being viable and just what you want.

I must keep an eye out whenever I go to the nursery. I wonder if your plant might come back in summer. Maybe it’s a perennial…we can always hope!

The catalogue I saw said it was a perennial but there was no way mine was going to revive, the only thing I can hope is that some seeds spread around but as yet no sign of any seedlings.

Oh darn. Hopefully you might find a surprise in the garden one day.

Just wait until you see my post about the gardens in Perth which will be coming up in a couple of weeks. The wildflowers there are spectacular.

Yes, there’s nothing quite as ornate as nature at its finest. 😃

I love how, when you first look, the flowers are pretty, but if you look really closely they are so detailed. It’s even better when you can capture a tiny insect in the blossom.

Wow – these are fantastic pictures! I absolutely love getting up-close-and-personal with flowers 😀

Me too. I find sometimes close up photos look great on the small camera screen but on the computer they are blurry or grainy. So it’s exciting when they actually turn out well. I have more gorgeous wildflower pics coming up soon in a post about Kings Park in Perth.

They are so pretty! Nature is very clever, isn’t she? I love the colours in the second photo, but I think my favourite one is the third one.

Those white flowers were tiny and so delicate. I loved the purple ones and we saw them in lots of places.
