The twin roller coasters of Battlestar Galactica, highest in the world, dominate the skyline at Universal Studios, Sentosa. Duelling rides – Human and Cylon – hurtle past each other at speeds of up to 90 km an hour on a 90 second joyride.
From the moment we arrived at Singapore’s Universal Studios, I was determined to ride the roller coasters. The queues were long, so we decided to visit the other six entertainment zones in the park first and leave the roller coasters until later in the day. We could do the easy rides first and build up to the excitement of the roller coasters.
In New York, we helped Elmo and Super Grover defend the Earth against Macaroni the Merciless in the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Race.
At Lights, Camera, Action! we sheltered in a boathouse on the harbour as a hurricane bore down on New York City. A cargo ship, forced ashore by driving rain and gale force winds, came crashing through the wall and stopped just metres from us.
We sailed through the steamy jungles of Madagascar on a Crate Adventure…
and soared above Jurassic Park on the Canopy Flyer before dodging prehistoric escapees on the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure.
After leaving Jurassic Park we travelled forward in time to Ancient Egypt. We became Treasure Hunters at an archaeological excavation,
and defended ourselves against warrior mummies and giant scarab beetles at Revenge of the Mummy.
As the sun set and the crowds lessened we returned to the roller coasters.
Daring riders still raced past at breakneck speeds,
twisting and turning on the spiraling tracks.
Did I ride?
Of course not! Someone had to take photos!
What a great post. Lots of fun. I was thinking how much of a daredevil you were as I read it then at the end I smiled. I’m just like you, prefer to be on the ground taking the photos … at least now in my wiser years!

I was so tempted. Mr ET did both and he loved them.

Brave him. I would have done them all years ago myself. These days I’m a bit more of a chicken!

My niece,13 at the time, went on both rollercoasters 6 times each and made my husband go with her. He eventually said to her “no more, I am about to faint!”

Six times! I’m impressed. Mr ET went twice, so he made up for me.

Oh my, better you than me. That’s not my idea of fun. Do you hear it? The clucking of this chicken. 🙂

Well, I chickened out at the end too. I had just spent a small fortune at the chiropractor so I didn’t want to undo all his good work. 🙂

Heh, heh I went from dismay and terror to a wry chuckle just like that – I was thinking you couldn’t possibly have any adventurous spirit left after all the previous adventures, let alone the sheer bravery to actually get aboard that thing…… When I was younger and less attached to my stomach lining maybe 🙂 It looks like a fun day out!!

All the rides were fun, but pretty tame compared to the roller coasters. We did have a fun day, CC.

For the coaster at the end I would be the photographer too! Even looking at the photo is enough to make my stomach lurch… The other rides/experiences look like fun, though.

They were all great and luckily the queues weren’t very long for any of them. I really wanted to do the roller coasters but I just couldn’t muster the courage.

I’m a really scaredy-cat when it comes to anything like this, never had the stomach for it even as a child, and after the horrendous crash at one of our them parks last year you wouldn’t get me on one now.

They go at amazing speeds and I think I would actually be terrified. I wanted to do it, but I knew I wouldn’t.

I had to laugh at your last line! I never go on rides at any show or theme park because I’m such a chicken – but the rest of the family love them 🙂

This park, and many other things, did not exist last time I was in Singapore. I would love to ride those coasters!!

I love Singapore…but I’ve been there a bunch of times. But not since they built all those attractions, so….? yeah, maybe???

We stop over there on flights to Europe. It’s eight hours from Australia and then another 10 to European cities or 13 to London so it’s a good midway point. We always find something new to see. I really like it there.

Yeah, I like stopping over, also. I stop in Amsterdam on my way from AUH to the US. Now, I’m beginning to miss Singapore.

I’ve nearly talked you into it. By the way, did you see the post I published recently specially for you? I’m wearing my thongs in it! https://theeternaltraveller.wordpress.com/2016/10/04/going-up/

I’m into the most basic rides-nothing thrill seeking at all. Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion is my ideal ride 😀

When we went to Tokyo Disneyland, I went on the Small World ride twice! There was so much to look at.

That’s what I call an action packed day. You had me fooled there for a minute. I thought you were up for it. Literally 🙂 🙂
