Western Queensland Road Trip Square Tops Challenge #27
When restrictions in Queensland are lifted and travel within our state is allowed, we’ll be on the road again. We have a new caravan we only got to use for two nights before everything closed down and there’s a long list of places we want to visit. Our first destination will be this top spot.
This free camp on the banks of the Moonie River at Nindigully will be perfect for trying out the off grid features of our van – solar panels, extra water tanks and, most important of all, an ensuite bathroom. I’m looking forward to sitting out under the awning with my morning coffee, enjoying the birds and the bougainvillea.
We might try some water sports, go for a gentle bush walk or just sit quietly by the river.
I just hope the Nindigully Pub is open next time!
While our travels are on hold, I’m joining in every day with Becky’s April Square Tops Challenge over at The Life of B. The rules are simple: photos must be square and fit the theme word “top”.
I’m sure you will have a wonderful time in your new home on wheels – just as soon as the time is right ❤

That’s the plan!

Gorgeous pics. I think there’ll be a mass exodus from Victoria as well, once the restrictions are lifted.

I think border restrictions will stay in place for quite a while for that very reason. We don’t really want a mass exodus of Victorians suddenly arriving just yet. Lucky for us, Nindigully is in QLD and only a few hours away.

Wonderful . . . really hope your restrictions lift soon by the sounds of it they might 🙂

They’re beginning to ease up gradually but it will be a long time before everything is back to normal. From Saturday we will be able to do a little more and go for a drive, but only for 50 km. Different states are changing differently according to their needs and Covid numbers. We are getting no new cases here in QLD, so that’s good.

Excellent news . . . .wish the UK had been as efficient in the early stages. Even now we are not testing or quarantining arrivals from other countries

That is quite incredible. Our international borders closed weeks ago and only those who are Australian citizens or have permanent residency are able to enter. Then they have mandatory quarantine for 14 days in the city they arrived in. If they have to go interstate to get home, they have another 14 days quarantine there as well. And anyone who wants a test can have one. Our government is taking this situation very seriously and I think that’s been great.

We just have nincompoops in charge unfortunately 😦

It certainly looks that way from what we’re seeing. 🙄

Oh dear, how unfortunate that our borders are closed. Sorry, you’ll have to keep them. 😆😉

I think I’d like to be there too – it sounds idyllic with the birds and the bougainvillea, which is one of my favourite plants.

It’s nice to have things to look forward to. The new van is not much larger than the old one, but it’s got many more features.

We are too. We only got a taster so next time will hopefully be for longer.

Hopefully it won’t be long until you are out there listening to the birds with a coffee in your hand. Beautiful location.

We enjoyed having a look around the first time and felt quite envious of the people who were camped there.

Lucky! Our Roadie is still grounded for now. And with its advanced age, it will need quite a bit of care before it’s ready for another adventure. Our destination is to be central Vancouver Island if authorities permit.

That will be lovely. We only went to Victoria which was so beautiful. I would love to explore more on the island.

It will be great when we can return for a stay. Who knows when that will be?

I like the use of the word ‘caravan’ versus the words we use for camping units. Anywhere there is water, gorgeous birds, and beautiful blooms would get my vote. 🙂

I think you would call our van a camper trailer. We love it and can’t wait to try it out for a longer trip in the future.

Our Covid data is excellent and both state and federal governments are starting to ease restrictions. If the data stays good we’ll be on the road soon.

Yeah! We have a trip booked to Tahoe that I had hoped to sell or donate to Kiwanis to raise money.
