I’m joining Becky in her July Square Photo Challenge over at The Life of B. The rules of the challenge are simple: most photos must be square and fit the theme word tree. Look for #treesquare. Come with me on a Central Queensland road trip starring trees and the beautiful landscapes of my home state.
Hervey Bay, Fraser Coast
The water of the Pacific Ocean is almost always this calm at Hervey Bay. The world’s largest sand island Fraser Island lies just off the coast, providing protection from all but the wildest of weather.
At low tide on a still day there’s barely a ripple at Urangan Beach.

What a gorgeous view, and a brilliant #TreeSquare. Your trip sounds fabulous, looking forward to joining you

I’ve really enjoyed revisiting this trip. It was only in May but already seems so long ago.

We visited Hervey Bay and Frazer Island back in 1998. The lakes on a sand island blew my mind. That abs a highway/airstrip combo! Lovely reminder

You would notice some changes in HB since then. It’s grown. Fraser Island is just beautiful and Lake Mackenzie is gorgeous. Did you swim in the lake?

This sounds like an amazing trip. I loved Fraser Island. Goodness knows if I will ever get to Australia again. The older I get the more I fear that long flight.

We always break it up into two legs. Brisbane to Singapore, stop over for two nights and then Singapore to wherever in Europe we’re going. That makes it much easier.

Yes. I will definitely factor in a stopover.

What a lonely looking tree. Reminds me of a sailor, alone with the sea as his primary company. Beautiful tree. 🙂

Thanks Marsha. If you could see the rest of the scene, you’d be happy to know that the tree is definitely not alone. It’s right on the esplanade with all the shops and tourists! 🙂

Funny what impressions you can get from a single square picture. I’m glad he’s not a lonely tree. 🙂
