I’m joining Becky in her July Square Photo Challenge over at The Life of B. The rules of the challenge are simple: most photos must be square and fit the theme word tree. Look for #treesquare. Come with me on a Central Queensland road trip starring trees and the beautiful landscapes of my home state.
Lake Maraboon, Emerald
The sweet blossoms of a gum tree provide a tasty feast for a pair of rainbow lorikeets.
They’re so engrossed in feeding our presence doesn’t bother them.
From their perch high up in the tree, they have a great view of Lake Maraboon and Fairbairn Dam.
oh what beautiful birds, and so clever of you to climb the tree too!!

Yes, they’re lovely birds with cheeky personalities.

With the shadow of the tree on the ground it does look like you climbed up it to get that shot with the road – I thought maybe it had been taken by a drone but maybe you were up a hill? I love those birds, they are very pretty – we don’t have any native birds as colourful as those.

I see what you mean. The tree was at a lookout on the top of the hill so yes, we were in an elevated position. Many of our native birds are brightly coloured. It’s always a treat to see them.

They are such pretty colourful birds. Ours seem so muted in comparison, though they are pretty in their own way.

We get a pair in the bottlebrush near our kitchen window occasionally. They’re so much fun to watch.

They are lovely. We see them often around home but we still stop to watch them.

Thanks! The view was great up there. The water level was very low in the dam.

Everyone loves your birds. They are beautiful, but I love the first picture with the tree in the foreground and the calm water and brilliant blue sky. I have no desire to climb the tree and bother the birds.
