I’m joining Becky in her October Square Photo Challenge over at The Life of B. The rules of the challenge are simple: most photos must be square and fit the theme word Past. Look for #PastSquares. This month we’re travelling back in time in the western Queensland town of Miles and surrounds. We’ll explore the local area and join in the festivities at the Miles Back to the Bush Festival.
Miles Airport
Three vintage aircraft commandeer the skies above Miles Historical Village during the Back to the Bush Festival.
Later we visit Miles Airport to see the planes up close on the tarmac.

It was $600 for a15 minute flight, so no. We weren’t tempted. But plenty of people were.

crikey, that is pricey

There’s something very nostalgic about these old planes. I might like to go up in one, but not at that price!

Me too. I thought the price was over the top.

The opportunity to see vintage aircraft is always a thrill. We have those fly-ins every couple of years, and they always sell out.

We live close to the local airport and there is a big vintage weekend every May. We love seeing the old planes flying over.

This looks like an amazing festival, I must tell my son about it. I am sure his two boys would enjoy the events. Too late this year though.

It’s on every second year so the next one will be 2023. I’m sure they would all enjoy it.

I’ve mentioned it to them. Actually the whole area looks interesting even without the festival.

Yes, there is quite a lot to see in western Queensland. They could include it as part of a round trip. Miles is about 4 hours drive west of Brisbane.

I love the planes, especially the one on the left. I’d love to go up in one too but not at that price!

No, we thought it was a bit much. I have other things I’d rather do for that price.

Aerial acrobatics always make me so nervous! Those pilots must have nerves of steel!

They weren’t doing acrobatics this time, just flyovers. I love watching the old planes.

That looks like fun! The weather looks perfect! This would be a perfect one to link to Mama Cormier’s Thursday Trios this week. 🙂

We had gorgeous weather the whole week we were away. It was very warm during the day and a bit chilly overnight.

That makes it easier to sleep. Perfect!
