More Than a Fuel Stop

Queensland Road Trip, May 2022

Let’s go on a road trip! Come with us to Townsville and west on the Savannah Way to Karumba on an adventure in far north Queensland.Β

In the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but red dirt and bush, is the Lynd Oasis Roadhouse. Located close to the junction of the Kennedy Developmental Road and the Gregory Highway, the roadhouse is a natural stopping point for travellers wanting to top up their fuel tanks.

We had an extra reason to stop at the roadhouse. It houses Australia’s Smallest Bar and Glen, being a beer connoisseur, wanted to try it out.

I’m no beer drinker so while Glen sat in the shade enjoying one cold beverage I had something even better – a delicious macadamia mango Weis bar.

I didn’t need to go to Australia’s Smallest Bar for that!

  1. I’ve never heard of those ice cream bars but I wish we got them over here – macadamia and mango are two of my favourite flavours! Mind you, I also like a cold beer on a hot day – but perhaps an ice cream even more so πŸ˜†

  2. Glen and Hans would be best buddies. I told Hans about Glen’s beer brewing and he turned green with envy! Glad you found something to drink. Beer would not have been my favorite! BTW, I’m linking this to my post today since your name keeps coming up no matter what I write.

  4. Oh for that ice-cream bar right now! Though I do enjoy a cold beer (lager) on a hot day too. Aussie bars can be such fun, I remember being amused by one in Braidwood (between Canberra and Bateman’s Bay).
