Round Australia Road Trip #28
You know you’re in Australia when
kangaroos are having breakfast on the lawn,
there’s a sunset picnic on the beach,
this is the only phone that works,
beer goes with fishing,
you’re in the middle of nowhere and a long way from anywhere,
there’s a Southern Cross windmill in the backyard,
this is a river,
you overtake yet another road train,
you need to look out – crocs are about,
the beach goes forever
and so does the highway,
one of these might be crossing the road,
you’ve got the whole campground to yourself,
your morning coffee comes with a beautiful view,
it takes a long time to go not very far,
there’s a galah in the gum tree,
you need to use the Aussie salute,
and
the sunsets are incredible.

Very good summary of the country! Great idea!

Oh, the Aussie salute! The flies were SO bad when I moved to Myrtleford this September. I’d almost forgotten how to do the salute. It came back, quickly.

It’s one of those skills that lies dormant until you need it but comes back instantly when the flies are around. I had to combine it with keeping my mouth shut and trying not to breathe in!

Nice to meet you too.
There is so much we still have to see and do, and we are lucky to have the resources to travel.

You really should and you will be very welcome. This is a wonderful country with so much to enjoy. Just remember, it’s as large as USA so you will need to allow plenty of time.

Which one? Mindil Beach in Darwin, the fisherman’s beach at Carnarvon, Cable Beach in Broome or the beach at Monkey Mia…I have an idea. Put on your thongs and hat and let’s do them all.

I need a hat big enough to cover my… thong 🙂 Can we start with that endless one? 🙂

Oh no, Jo. Not that kind of thong. Australian thongs, like these – https://theeternaltraveller.wordpress.com/2015/11/05/the-thong-shack/
The endless beach is Cable Beach, in Broome. It is one of the most famous beaches in the world.

Cable Beach it is then! For starters 🙂

Iconically Australian, all of them. Great summary! 🙂

Some more iconic than others…like that phone box. There was so much of the country where we had no reception.

At least you know all the important things, like where not to go swimming and what you should look at while drinking coffee! Our beaches and sunsets are amazing. Why don’t you come and see for yourself? You’d be very welcome.

How did I miss this luscious post? I’m going to reblog it. I have your Brisbane set to come out tomorrow. If you don’t mind, I’m going to fill some of my three weeks with Carol and Leanne posts. Everyone will get to see some things I may have to miss in Australia! 🙂 But they will get the best part – my friends! 🙂 Three more days. Wahoo! 🙂

On the countdown. I can’t guarantee you’ll see all of this, but you will definitely experience flies! 🙂

Flies?!!! I just checked like before I read that word! We have flies here. I do NOT need to go to Australia to find flies! 🙂 hehehe. I have scheduled a post of yours every other day until Jan. 7th on my TC History Gal.WordPress site. This is fun and so easy! It’s a new experiment. I wonder how much traffic you will get?

Hi! Came here from Marsha’s site and I’m glad I did. This was fun and beautiful! Thanks to you both!
We have beer with fishing, here, too (USA) but I don’t really do either one, much. Although once I grabbed what I thought was a can of plain carbonated water from a cooler and drank the whole thing before someone asked me why, since I don’t really like beer much. Must’ve been weak stuff! 😀

Hello and welcome! I’m not fussed on beer either. But when we were in Salzburg and did the Steigl Brewery tour, we received three vouchers each for beers to have in the beer garden. My husband thought he was on a winner…six beers for him. But I tried their special fruity beers and loved them, so he missed out!
